Welcome Ramzan 2013. In the entire world millions of people waiting for this special month. According to Islam, the thawab (rewards) of fasting are many, but in this month they are believed to be multiplied. Fasting for Muslims during Ramadan typically includes the increased offering of salat (prayers) and recitation of the Quran.

Ramadan will start on Tuesday, the 9th of July and will continue for 30 days until Wednesday, the 7th of August. It’s the time for fasting but also for feasting, and not just for devout Muslims observing the 30-day roza. For foodies all over, Ramzan is the time to soak in the Eid spirit and what better place than the majestic Jama Masjid looming in the backdrop.

In Ramzan it is important not to let a morsel of food or a drop of liquid pass through one’s lips. It is also equally important to have a nutritious and healthy diet before and after the fast.

The crowds gather at iftar and continue right up till dawn, when the sehri meal is eaten. While iftar marks the end of the meal at nightfall, sehri is the early morning meal before the dawn of another fasting day.

The fast is traditionally broken with a small meal of dates, fruits and pakodas. And sehri usually constitutes specialties like khajla (round bread), pheni (spiral crusty cakes) and sheermaal (sweet buns, usually served with butter and jam), providing the required energy without wreaking havoc on the digestive system. Floral Eiffel Tower is the highlight of the 11-day show…

The annual Republic Day flower show, organised by the Department of Horticulture and Mysore Horticultural Society, will open to the public on January 18 and will go on till January 28. Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar is expected to inaugurate the show.

The main attraction at this year’s show will be a 35-foot high floral replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Meant as a floral tribute to Gustave Eiffel, who erected the Eiffel Tower in 1889, the replica will be decorated with more than 2.5 lakh roses and more than 10,000 orchids. It will occupy the most important place at the Glass House. The flower show comprises exhibition of potted plants and cut flowers, Thai art, Jannur, Ikebana, Indian Floral Art, Bonsai and vegetable carvings!

Introduced to mainstream Indian viewers through the Cocktail movie song, ‘Jugni’ Arif Lohar is a huge contemporary folk music singer back in native Pakistan.

Punjabi singer Arif Lohar from Pakistan sings primarily in the Punjabi folk style. In 2006 he came out with is most successful album ’21st Century Jugni’. In Coke-Studio season 3, Lohar performed ‘Alif Allah Chambay Dey Booti/Jugni’ with the new singing talent of Pakistan, Meesha Shafi. The song was an instant hit on youtube getting 11 million views.

Navratri 2012 Festival Events & Celebrations in India | Durga Puja

Navratri is the most popular spiritual & cultural Hindu festival of India. The nine days of Navratri festival also referred to as Navratras are considered as the most auspicious days by all Hindus. Navratri marks the period when Durga waged a battle against the demon Mahishasura. Each one of the nine days of Navratri is dedicated to the worship of nine different forms of Goddess Durga. The 10th day after Navratri is celebrated as Dussehra.

Navratri 2012 Dates:  This year Navratri festival falls from 16th October to 23rd October, 2012. Therefore, Dussehra festival will fall on Wednesday, 24th October  2012.

The Navratri festival is celebrated with great devotion & fervor in all parts of India. In Gujarat, Navratri festival celebrates the worship of Goddess Jagdamba and in West Bengal, Durga Puja is another name for Navratri festival. So, every region in India celebrates this Navratri festival in its own way.

Aafat Mein Jaan is a story of a Police Station where an Inspector, Havaldar, & a Constable all are always stuck in a number of problems. An old age couple leaves a child Chintu in Police Station for three hours as they are unable to enjoy adult film with their grand son Chintu. A pick-pocket tries to make complaint that he was caught by public during his job and they attacked him. Constable has arrested a young couple in a romantic mood from a public park.

What happened with Chintu, old age couple & young couple? What will be the climax of this drama? You can get all the answers to your questions only after watching the play – Aafat Mein Jaan. Delhi to Agra Comedy Play

Delhi to Agra is a comedy play, written & directed by Lucky Kataria. A comedy drama with lots of laugh. Kishan is a theatre artist who wants to marry Reshma ( a Muslim girl) his love. But Reshma’s father who is a doctor doesn’t want his daughter to get married to a theatre artist. So, he took his daughter fom Delhi to Agra in order to get her married there as early as possible to some doctor, lawyer, engineer or any other professional except for a theatre artist.
